Creator economy professionals shuffled into new jobs across the industry in June.
Of particular note were two new hires at Snapchat, which poached Sam Corrao Clanon and Varshini Satish from TikTok as it looks to bolster its creator team.
Meanwhile, talent agencies like WME, UTA, and Underscore Talent battled it out to sign the internet's top stars.
Here is Insider's rundown of news on hires, promotions, and talent signings from June.
New hires, promotions, and departures
- Snap hired Sam Corrao Clanon as its director of content focused on Snapchat's short-video feature Spotlight. Clanon previously was head of content strategy and insights on the content programming team at TikTok. Varshini Satish started at Snapchat on its talent-management team as a senior associate of talent partnerships. Satish previously worked on TikTok's creator partnership team.
- Rajni Jacques also joined Snap as its new head of fashion and beauty partnerships. The company said Jacques will help fashion brands build up their presence on Snapchat, including testing out its augmented reality and Bitmoji features. Jacques previously served as fashion director at Condé Nast's Teen Vogue and Allure.
- Cameo hired Nundu Janakiram as its first VP of Product. Janakiram previously served as director of product at Uber. The company also appointed NBA star Magic Johnson to its board of directors.
- Substack added Nick Spencer, the comic-book writer behind "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Captain America," to work on its Substack Pro initiative, Insider's Steven Perlberg reported.
- Mike Muney started a new role at the virtual-events platform Moment House as its new head of creator partnerships. Muney said he will focus on partnering with podcasts and creators as the company looks to expand outside of music. He previously held the role of senior partner manager, creators at Spotify.
- Facebook's Carolyn Everson left her role as a top ad exec at the company after working there over 10 years. Insider's Claire Atkinson reported that Everson is considering a role a Instacart.
- A3 Artists Agency promoted Emma Clarke to the role of agent in its alternative programming, digital media, licensing and branding division. The agency also promoted Alexis Cooper to VP of human resources and Ulisses Rivera to director of communications.
- Matthew Derella is leaving his role as customers lead at Twitter. He will be replaced by Sarah Personette, currently a GVP of client solutions at the company.
New talent signings
- William White, who has 1.7 million followers on TikTok, signed with IMG Models and WME.
- Underscore Talentsigned TikTok creator CelinaSpookyBoo who has 18.5 million followers on the app. The agency also launched a gaming division, signing influencers like Aydan, Swagg, CodeMiko, Scump, and H3CZ.
- UTA signed Ethan Fields, a singer and songwriter who first rose to fame by performing on TikTok where he has around 419,000 followers. The agency is also working with clients James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman to launch a new podcast network called Upside Down Digital Network that UTA will represent.
- WME signed Twitch creator Cloakzy, who has 2.6 million followers and plays "Call of Duty: Warzone." The agency also signed a group of other gaming creators, including OTK, ZooMaa, Gina Darling, Clayster, and James "Crowder." The agency also added Nait Jones, an Andreessen Horowitz partner and Clubhouse influencer with 4.2 million followers, and Anthony Reeves, an original member of the content house Sway LA with 10.5 million TikTok fans, to its roster.
- Esports organization FaZe ClansignedKalei Renay, a gaming streamer with 388,000 followers on Twitch.
- Range Media PartnerssignedTwitch streamer Kyedae Shymko who joined the esports organization 100 Thieves in April.
- Digital Brand Architects (DBA) signed TikTok beauty creator Mikayla Nogueira (5.7 million TikTok fans), Stephanie Dionisio (859,000 TikTok followers), YouTuber Antonio Garza (3.53 million YouTube subscribers), and lifestyle creator Mia Maples (3.07 million YouTube subscribers).
