Sometimes, when an app updates, it's to add a much needed feature that people have been requesting for a long time. Other times, though, it's to add a new feature that nobody knew they wanted — until it happened.
Snapchat's recent update, adding astrological readouts to people's profiles, is definitely the latter.
Astrology is an ancient practice of trying to analyze people's personalities based on the position of the stars at the time of their birth. Snapchat can already tell you your sun sign, but this new feature adds your whole profile, along with an explanation of what each aspect means for you.
You can also share your readout, and see how you're compatible with other people on Snapchat who have also filled in the information.
In order to use this feature, you'll just need to know the place and time you were born. Here's how to add your astrology readout to Snapchat.
How to add astrology to Snapchat
1. Open Snapchat and tap your profile icon in the top-left corner.
2. Underneath your name, tap the purple zodiac symbol.
3. Enter the information on your time of birth and place of birth, and tap "Complete" when you're done.
4. To see your astrological readout at any time, just tap the zodiac symbol again. Swipe from right to left or tap the left side of the screen to read through it, and swipe up or tap Read More on any given aspect to read a more in-depth analysis.
If you aren't sure about your information, don't worry — if you realize you've made a mistake when reading through your profile, or later on, and need to go back in and change your information, it's a very simple fix.
1. Return to your profile and tap the settings button in the top right corner.
2. Under "My Account," tap Birthday.
3. Re-enter the correct information, then tap "Complete."
