Snapchat messages are designed to automatically delete after recipients have opened and read it. But sometimes you want to take back what you said or fix a weird autocorrect error before your message is read.
That's when it's time to manually delete your Snapchat message.
However, there are a few requirements that you'll have to meet in order to delete a Snapchat message. For example, you can only do so if the recipient hasn't yet seen the message – so speed is vital if you want to take back something you wrote or fix an error.
Snapchat also notes that it can't guarantee that the deletion process will always work, since some people may have a bad internet connection or are using an old version of the app on their iPhone or Android.

How to delete Snapchat messages
Remember, you have to be quick to delete a message sent through Snapchat. Here's how to do it on your iPhone or Android in the mobile app:
1. Open your Snapchat app and log in, if necessary.
2. Swipe from left to right to open your chats.
3. Select the conversation with the message you want to delete by tapping it.
4. Locate the message you want to delete, then tap and hold it (this will prompt a pop-up menu to appear).
5. Tap "Delete."
6. Confirm your choice by selecting "Delete Chat" (to be clear: even though it says "delete chat," this action won't delete the entire conversation, just the message you've selected).
After you go through this process, there will be a note in the chat that you deleted a message. This note appears on both ends of the chat. So even though the recipient won't be able to read what you wrote, they will know that you sent something and then deleted it.
